Carate Beach: idyllic and unspoiled

Finca Exotica is located on the southern coast of the Osa Peninsula right on Carate Beach. Carate is a long, scenic beach bordered by mesmerizing lush vegetation, and unlike more crowded beaches, here  you can have it all to yourself!

This is a great place for swimming, boogie-boarding, beachcombing, or just laying back in one of our hammocks under shady almond trees, relaxing to the sound of the waves. It also features a lagoon for kayaking, and is a great place to go for a morning run.

During the dry season we are lucky enough to observe both sunset and sunrise over the ocean. Take in the experience from the beach or our private Sunset Lookout Point, with a sweeping panoramic view.

Local Wildlife

Carate Beach is an important nesting ground for olive ridley, leatherback, green and hawksbill sea turtles, and you can often see them coming ashore to lay eggs at night. We help support the local turtle conservation project and can arrange visits to the nursery or a night tour, depending on the season. Bring a red headlamp for this tour and come see one of our ocean’s most majestic creatures!

Monkeys, squirrels, and various types of birds (scarlet macaus, hawks, pelicans, herons) also frequent the beach and the surrounding palm trees, and there is a wonderful variety of marine life common to the area as well. If you’re lucky to just might spot dolphins or even whales!

Keeping You Equipped and Comfy

We keep our beach house stocked with towels, flippers, goggles and boogie boards for your enjoyment. It has couches, hammocks and a pool table when you’re looking to retreat from the sun for a bit. We also have filtered water, a beachside shower and a bathroom.
